Background

For the 2009 ranking, the Thurgau Institut of Economics (TWI) at the University of Konstanz detected on behalf of the Handelsblatt the research activity of approx. 2,100 professors of business administration in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The number of published papers in 761 international journals formed the basis for the ranking. Since quality and reputation differ widely, a weighting was assigned to each journal. On the one hand, the whole publication achievement since the beginning of a career ("life achievement") was detected, and on the other hand, amount and quality of the publications since 2005 was identified.
