Studyoption: Business Administration with Intercultural Qualification

The trend of globalisation was recognised very early at the University of Mannheim, resulting in the introduction of the study option “business administration with intercultural qualification” in 1990. The offer is directed at students who, along with the classic academic, business education, would like to dedicate themselves to a particular region. Not only does it mean that the students will speak the respective foreign language fluently at the end of their studies, but also that they will have sound knowledge of the history, literature, social structures, media and political system of the region. At present, students can focus on English, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Japanese or Chinese. A semester of study abroad is the norm during this program of study.

Further information about the structure of the course and the study options can be obtained from the association of business students (Öffnet einen externen Link in einem neuen FensterSeiten der Fachschaft BWL (Arbeitskreis IQ)).

ATTENTION:

In the course of the so-called “Bologna Process” all German institutes of higher education are transforming their courses of study into the established, international Bachelor/Masters system by the year 2010. The business faculty is accommodating this development with the start of the new Bachelor of business administration and Bachelor of information systems in the autumn/winter semester 2006/07.

The introduction of the new courses for these programs of study can mean that the order of courses in your individual curriculum may have to be adapted.

Information about changes to the course offerings of the faculty of business administration is to be found Öffnet einen internen Link im aktuellen Fensterhere.

Since not only the faculty of business administration but also the entire university is transforming their courses of study into the Bachelor/Masters system, you should be aware of the course offerings for the intercultural lectures from the school of humanities when planning your timetable!
