Information Systems

IT competence and business know-how make up a qualification profile which is in higher demand than ever. More and more job descriptions demand business and IT competence in equal measure. The information systems studies at the University of Mannheim offer an attractive bridging between both fields and open up excellent career prospects for the graduates since 1984.

The Diplom studies in information systems at the University of Mannheim are designed as an application-oriented course. Also included is a compulsory internship. Students take business, IT, mathematics and statistics courses. One specialisation (SBWL) in the Hauptstudium (graduate studies) is taken in addition to an elective (Wahlfach).

ATTENTION:

In the course of the so-called “Bologna Process” all German institutes of higher education are transforming their courses of study into the established, international Bachelor/Masters system by the year 2010. The business faculty is accommodating this development with the start of the new Bachelor of business administration and Bachelor of information systems in the autumn/winter semester 2006/07.

The introduction of the new courses for these programs of study can mean that the order of courses in your individual curriculum may have to be adapted.
