In the peers(at)play project, the chair for Information Systems II - in cooperation with the Universities of Hannover and Duisburg-Essen - researches concepts and algorithms for the development of a global-scale interactive, and three dimensional virtual world model. Such a model can be used, e.g., for virtual communities like Second Life or context models for context-aware applications. We aim at a completely peer-based system architecture without the need for any centralized server infrastructure. In addition, we anticipate highly heterogeneous end user devices and communication networks to access the virtual world. This allows users to use our system everywhere and at any time.
