Aim of module

This module gives an overview on Pervasive Computing systems. These systems consist

of dynamic collections of (possibly mobile and/or embedded) devices that collaborate

with each other depending on the state of their current physical environment or context.

The module introduces systems, concepts and algorithms for Pervasive Computing, e.g. adaptation frameworks, context management, sensors and actuator networks.

Learning Outcomes

After this course, the students should know about

  • Location and Context Aware Systems
  • Context Management
  • Localization, e.g. using GPS
  • Sensor and Actuator systems, including Sensor Networks
  • Smart tagging systems, e.g. using optical tags or RFID
  • Adaptation and dynamic reconfiguration techniques
  • System software for Pervasive Computing
