In line with its Mission Statement, the University of Mannheim, Business School has developed a broad range of internal and external mechanisms to monitor and continuously improve the quality of the programs, its administration and of the institution as a whole, in order to strive for the highest possible standards. Moreover, continuous quality management is crucial to maintain and enhance the current position of the University of Mannheim, Business School in internationally renowned rankings and its excellent national standing.
The University of Mannheim, Business School holds the three most important international accreditations in the field of management education, the so-called “triple crown”. Only a limited number of business schools worldwide have successfully completed the rigorous external accreditation process designed by the three most significant accreditation agencies AACSB International (Tampa/
USA), EQUIS/ EFMD (Brussels/ Belgium) and AMBA (London/ UK). The Business School of the University of Mannheim was the first institution in Germany which obtained this sought after international triple accreditation. The 'triple crown' is a high commendation for the School and confirms that it offers first-class management education at the highest international level. At the national level, all programs of the University of Mannheim, Business School are accredited by the evaluations agency evalag.
Assurance of Learning
The Assurance of Learning process (AoL) is a quality management concept which assists the University of Mannheim, Business School to live up to and to maintain the highest standards in teaching. It is part of the AACSB standards for business school accreditation and it is compulsory for all AACSB accredited business schools. The AoL process monitors and enhances the programs’ quality and evaluates whether participants achieve the defined learning expectations. All programs offered at University of Mannheim, Business School have therefore clearly articulated learning goals which are measured through the AoL process.
The University of Mannheim, Business School has its own evaluation office and evaluates all courses offered at the Business School. Furthermore, the evaluation office also conducts the alumni survey and collaborates closely with the departmental student committee (Fachschaft BWL) in the context of the workload survey, which measures the actual workload during attendance periods in the classroom and during self-study periods. The evaluation office also supports and accompanies a number of other surveys, such as research projects of various chairs or surveys initiated by the Dean's Office or the Fachschaft BWL.
