15 Years of Successful Leadership: Prof. Dr. Jens Wüstemann Shapes the Development of Mannheim Business School

Closely involved with the school since 2003, he played a decisive role as Academic Director in the design and launch of flagship programs such as the ESSEC & Mannheim Executive MBA and the Mannheim Master of Accounting & Taxation, both of which remain central to the MBS portfolio today. With the planning and construction of the MBS Study & Conference Center in a former coal cellar of Mannheim Palace, his presidency also left a striking architectural testimony to the School’s commitment to excellence, to the ideal combination of tradition and innovation, and to the close ties between the School and the University of Mannheim.
During Professor Wüstemann’s presidency, annual student enrollment doubled (from around 400 to 800), as did the number of programs (from 4 to 8) and non-academic staff (from 26 to 56). Most recently, MBS significantly expanded its portfolio of open-enrollment courses, closing the last remaining gap in its offerings. MBS programs are regularly ranked among the top 10 in Europe and the top 30 worldwide by leading international rankings such as the Financial Times and Bloomberg Businessweek.
Professor Wüstemann will remain connected to MBS in several roles, including as Academic Director of the Accounting Track of the Mannheim Master of Accounting & Taxation and thus as a member of the MBS Presidium.
