The goal of the SANDMAN project is to develop algorithms and protocols for energy-efficient Pervasive Computing systems. Many devices used in Pervasive Computing are mobile and thus battery-operated. Energy-efficiency is one of the most important requirements for such systems. In the SANDMAN project we are looking in different system support approaches to lessen energy consumption, e.g. energy-aware service discovery and selection and service placement.
The SANDMAN project originates from the energy-efficient service discovery protocol with the same name that was developed by Gregor Schiele in the Peer to Peer Pervasive Computing project at the Universität Stuttgart.
