Michael Westerburg holds a degree in Business Administration (M.Sc.) from the University of Mannheim, Germany where he focused on operations management and corporate finance topics. He gained international experience while studying at EM Lyon, France and at Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. During his studies, he gained first scientific experience as a student research assistant in the operations management area as well as teaching experience as tutor in the finance area of the University of Mannheim.
After graduation, he worked for an international top-management consulting firm for two years. His consulting engagements were primarily related to finance topics, ranging from accompanying a post-merger-integration to conceptualizing, developing, and implementing optimized finance processes.
In his research, he focuses on corporate disclosures related to supply chain risks. One of his papers in this area (co-authored with Prof. Bode) received the “Best Paper in Supply Chain Management” Award from the Institute of Supply Management (ISM) at the 2017 Academy of Management Annual Meeting.
