European research project “Productive 4.0”

The Chair of Production Management takes part in the research project “Productive 4.0”. It aims at significant improvements in digitalizing the European industry by means of electronics and ICT, for example related to Internet of Things, Cyber Physical Systems, Automation, etc. The project receives grants from the European H2020 research and innovation programme, ECSEL Joint Undertaking, and is co-founded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany and other national authorities. The project consortium consists of over 100 partners from industry and academia from 19 different countries. The relevance is supported by the selection as “ECSEL Lighthouse Initiative on Industry4.0”.

Within the project framework, the Chair of Production Management focuses on the development of new analytical models and fast approximation methods for the performance analysis and optimization of production systems. The investigation of approaches allowing for the direct integration of real-world data will be explored. These approaches represent one way to unlock the full potential of big data gathered in digital production systems.
