On Monday, November 26, 2018, tax professor Christoph Spengel (Chair of Taxation II) was invited as an expert to the European Parliament in Brussels to a public hearing on “Cum-Ex scandal: financial crime and the loopholes in the current legal framework”.
The purpose of this hearing is to examine the recent revelation of the CumEx files, which has shown that over EUR 55 billion have been defrauded through various schemes.
Professor Spengel provided an initial statement to the European Parliament and served as a discussant to the MEP for 90 minutes. View a clip of the hearing.
