FAQ Prospective Doctoral Students

The chair of Professor Homburg is internationally recognized and well connected to partners in academia and industry. As part of our young and ambitious team you can expect a structured and goal-oriented doctoral program. This FAQs provide you with information about joining our chair as a doctoral student.   • Why should I apply?

    We are looking to fill doctoral student positions at the chair of business-to-business marketing, sales & pricing throughout the year. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Compensation is based on a 75% position (E 13 TV-L) for the period of three years with an option of extension.

    Your priority as an academic staff member at our chair will be to work on your own research project in close collaboration with Professor Homburg. Your goal is to publish empirical research in an internationally renowned journal.

    You will work together with a young and ambitious team of scientists at an internationally recognized institute, which is well connected to academia and industry.

  • What will be my responsibilities at the chair?

    Your priority will be to advance your own research project.

    Besides you will take responsibility as either teaching assistant, account or event manager for the Institute of Marketoriented Management, public relations and communications manager, management consultant for our company partners or interior manager.

    Furthermore, you may take on outside jobs as a visiting lecturer and management consultant if your schedule permits.

  • Who are you looking for?

    We are looking for team players with excellent communication skills and who enjoy conceptional and creative work. You are fluent in English and German and you have excelled in your business-related studies (e.g. business administration, business and engineering or psychology). Moreover, you have gained practical experience in ambitious internships. Ideally, you have shown to be socially engaged.

  • What are the next steps?

    We are looking forward to receiving your job application two to twelve months prior to your graduation date (a proposal for a potential dissertation topic is not required).   • Who are you looking for?

    We are constantly looking for students who have a track record of being reliable and accurate. You are a team player with excellent communication skills and who enjoys conceptual and creative work. Furthermore, you are fluent in English and German and have achieved excellent grades in your current study program. Finally, you show interest in the marketing science and scientific method in general

     

  • What will be my responsibilities at the chair?

    You will closely work together with our doctoral students and postdoctoral research on a diverse set of research projects. Your tasks might include literature review, summarizing broader topics, support for data collection and analysis and proof-reading of paper drafts.

    Additionally, you might support fellow students as a tutor for specific courses from our chair's course offerings.

    Other tasks include office and organisational support, handling press releases, and administration of our IT systems and homepage.

  • What is the work load and work schedule?

    As a student research assistant you will work between 20 to 40 hours per month at our chair. We bear in mind that there are times in which you have to focus on exam preperation when assigning tasks. Your exact work schedule is agreed upon individually and flexible with academic staff members at our chair.
