Experience a unique study environment at the University of Mannheim. Our centrally located campus is mainly located in a baroque palace, merely a few steps away from the shopping district and the intercity train station. Be part of our vibrant student life and enjoy high-class education in Germany's leading business school, which is known as the breeding ground for future managers.
Studying in Mannheim means studying in the heart of Germany, close to Heidelberg, Frankfurt, Munich, and Paris. Nick-named the “city of squares”, it is often compared to New York's grid system. Together with the cities Heidelberg and Ludwigshafen, Mannheim is part of the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. About 2.4 million inhabitants, a great infrastructure and several companies turn into one of the most attractive business hubs in Germany. Mannheim balances its industrial charm with many green areas along its two rivers. It also offers a great variety of shopping, nightlife, restaurants, museums, and cafés. Plus: The palatinate area, a well-known wine region ideal for hiking, is at arm's length.
The Business School of the University of Mannheim stands for research and teaching at the highest international level combined with a distinctive practical orientation. Take advantage of our extensive English course offer and find modules that match your academic focus.
We offer a wide variety of classes of which about 70% are taught in English. International students can select their courses from our renowned Bachelor in Business Administration (B.Sc.) and Mannheim Master in Management (M.Sc.) programs. Seven areas of studies cover an unusually broad spectrum of research and teaching fields in business administration.
Our courses offered are published online around end of November (for the following spring semester) respectively. As most of our courses at the business school are offered in a yearly rhythm, our previous spring semester course list is a good indicator of which courses will likely be offered again during the coming spring.
Exchange students coming to Mannheim need to take at least 50% of their courses from the school through which they come on exchange (i.e. Business School for our incomings). You may, however, also take German language courses or courses from other schools. Please consider the following:
You can choose courses outside of the Business School from our list of “University Wide Electives.” If you already have previous knowledge in one of the area of studies and would like to choose courses from their regular offer, you must contact the respective exchange coordinator.
Registering for modules
Most of the business courses do not require any registration before your arrival in Mannheim. That is, the majority of courses either do not require any registration at all or you can register for them on Portal2, our online portal for students, after having arrived in Mannheim. In the exceptional cases where you need to register for a course before your arrival, you can do so via email.
Whether you have to register for a certain module will be clearly stated and explained in the course description of the course catalog. Please read it carefully, but do not worry - we will help you register for classes during the welcome week.
Please note that course registration procedures and deadlines vary from school to school. If you intend to take courses outside the business school, read the respective course description carefully and follow the instructions accordingly.
Learn to speak German
The University of Mannheim offers many German language courses for exchange students. Learn German by attending our Winter or Summer Academy, a preparatory intensive language course before the beginning of the semester. You may also take advantage of our large offer of German language courses that take place during the semester.
Do not miss the different information sessions offered by your academic advisor in Mannheim. We are looking forward to supporting you with your course selection and registration as well as any other academic concerns.
