Meet business experts and learn what it really means when academia meets practice during company visits and expert discussions. The Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region is one of the most important economic centers in the European market. 50% of Germany's top 500 companies, such as BASF, SAP, Lufthansa and Daimler, are based within a 150 km radius of Mannheim.

Culture

During our cultural activities, you will get the chance to try the local specialties of the Palatinate vineyards or explore Heidelberg with its impressive castle and its unique historic center. Visit Hambach Castle, the cradle of German democracy, Speyer with its UNESCO World Heritage cathedral or the medieval villages along the German wine road.

Our Summer School at a glance

  • Time of program: June - July 2019, in the planning stage
  • Target group: graduate and advanced undergraduate business students
  • Number of participants: max. 25 students per module
  • Structure: three modules taking place one after another (can also be attended individually)
  • Form of assessment: active class participation, written final exam (60 minutes)
  • Credits: 4 ECTS per module
  • Language: English

Understanding the German Economy

Module 1

June 24 - July 3, 2018

The module is designed to provide students with a comprehensive overview on the state of the art of the German economic system and how Germany has managed to emerge as a winner from the current European crisis without neglecting future opportunities and threats.

Global Marketing with a Specific Focus on Emerging Markets

Module 2

July 1 - July 10, 2018

The module is designed for students who expect to undertake international marketing assignments, work for global corporations, or help companies to expand globally. The module portrays opportunities and competitive challenges in a global market setting with a specific focus on emerging markets.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Module 3

July 8 - July 17, 2018

The focus of this module is to supply students with a deep understanding of the foundations of entrepreneurship and practical tools to create ideas and start their own business. Light is also shed on competitive positioning and advantage, and strategic dimensions of recent developments in the market such as digitalization and their implications for new ventures and business models.

Application period: February - April 2019

Apply for either one or several modules to be part of the unique summer school experience in Mannheim.

Please hand in the following application documents:

  • Transcript of records of your current degree program
  • Proof of English language proficiency: any common certificate accepted, not necessary for native speakers
  • Copy of passport or ID card
  • Photo

    Program fee and organizational matters

  • What is included

    • Tuition, lecture material
    • Company visits, cultural activities on week-days
    • Letter of Invitation (required for Visa application)
    • Accommodation in a twin room in a centrally located comfort class hotel including breakfast (other options at a premium, if available)
    • Lunch on week-days, welcome and farewell dinners
    • Transportation during the program, weekly ticket for public transportation in the region
    • Wi-Fi access on campus
    • Information package
    • Certificate of attendance, transcript of records
    • Support by the Summer School team throughout the program
  • Program fee

    Optional weekend activities can be booked during the program. Applicants are guaranteed a spot in a Standard twin room. Other rooms can be booked with a surcharge if they are available.

  • Accommodation

    You will be staying at a comfort-class hotel, which is located in the heart of Mannheim. Accomodation in a Standard Twin Room is included in the price. The hotel offers rooms in two categories:

    • Standard rooms: either twin or single, including breakfast
    • Comfort rooms: either twin or single, including breakfast and air-conditioning
