Two Best Paper Awards for the Endowed Chair of Procurement

The Endowed Chair of Procurement has received two best paper awards from the renowned Academy of Management.

The paper "Supply Disruption Management: The Early Bird Catches the Worm, but the Second Mouse Gets the Cheese?" by  Professor Dr. Christoph Bode, holder of the Endowed Chair of Procurement at the University of Mannheim, and his colleague Maximilian Merath, was honored with the renowned “Chan Hahn Best Paper Award” at the 77th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management (August 4 – 8, 2017 in Atlanta).

Every year, the Academy of Management awards this prize to an outstanding paper in the field of Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSCM). The renowned jury includes editors of leading journals.

Just a few hours after this success, Professor Bode and Michael Westerburg have received the “Best Paper in Supply Chain Management Award” for their paper "Supply Chain Risk and Risk Mitigation: Which Strategies Tackle Identified Risks Most Efficiently?". Awarded by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), this prize is endowed with one thousand dollars.

For the first time, the two most important prizes of the OSCM Division went to one single research group. “This is a major achievement for our Chair, because it emphasizes, that we are working on the right issues and regarding on our research quality we keep pace with the international top level”, says Prof. Christoph Bode.

The Endowed Chair of Procurement was founded in 2014. Since then it has been funded and supported by a circle of donors, composed of Bilfinger SE, BME e.V., Dietmar Hopp Stiftung, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, Hilti AG, KSB AG, Roche Diagnostics GmbH, Saint-Gobain Building Distribution Deutschland GmbH, SAP SE and SEW Eurodrive.
