Professional Activities

Vaskar is an Assistant Professor in the famed IIT Roorkee in India for the past 5 years. He has extensive teaching and research experience in both undergraduate and graduate level. He has also vast experience in writing project proposals and securing research grants. In 2015, he received the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt fellowship in Computer Science (one of only 9 people around the globe). He is one of the youngest senior members of IEEE Computer Society from India. Vaskar is associated with various conferences as track chairs or program committee members, such as, IEEE ATC, IEEE iNIS, IEEE Globecom, ICDCN, IEEE TENSYMP, etc. He serves as expert reviewer of several reputable international journals as well as various national bodies for project evaluation in India. In summer 2015, he received the prestigious DAAD-IIT joint fellowship on bilateral academic exchange for visiting Department of Computer Science (Informatik), Technische Universität Darmstadt. Vaskar has extensive experience in research supervision. He has already guided 17 undergraduate students and 18 masters’ students. Currently he is supervising 2 PhD students of his own and is mentoring 2 more PhD students in the research group of Prof. Becker.
