This year, the Schmalenbach Prize, endowed with €10,000, was awarded to Dr. Qi Gao Fritz. She holds a doctorate from the Area Accounting & Taxation and has been a tenured Assistant Professor at SKEMA Business School in Paris since August 2023.
The Schmalenbach Prize is awarded annually by the Schmalenbach Foundation for outstanding scientific work that is application-oriented, theoretically or empirically sound, and represents a scientific advance in business administration in the service of business practice.
The award honors her dissertation, “From Disclosure to Transparency: Essays on Firms' Voluntary Disclosure in a Transforming Environment.” The dissertation combines practical relevance and scientific rigor in an exemplary manner: On the one hand, it addresses highly relevant and cutting-edge topics from a corporate perspective by addressing issues of digitalization and ESG reporting.
On the other hand, her research contributions are methodologically innovative and meet the highest quality standards. Furthermore, her paper “The (Limited) Power of Blockchain Networks for Information Provision” was published in March in the A+ journal Management Science.
