ACC 750 Accounting Seminar

The course ACC 750 Accounting Seminar introduces students to research in financial accounting and capital markets. Participants get to know contemporaneous topics in accounting research and learn how to approach a research question scientifically. The course also serves as an advanced introduction into academic writing as participants learn to structure and write a scientific thesis. The results of the seminar thesis will be presented and critically discussed within the seminar.

The seminar is a prerequisite for a master thesis at our chair (see Master Thesis for further details). To pass the course, a grade equal or better than “sufficient” (4.0) is required. The grading is composed of the individually written seminar paper, the presentation, and the participation in seminar discussions.

The course is offered every fall term in cooperation with the chair of Professor Simons. The writing phase spans eight weeks. Please note: detailed information on upcoming seminars is usually published mid-/ end of May.

Please consider that admission to the seminar is competitive and that we may be unable to provide places to all applicants. Furthermore, please note that presence in Mannheim may be required for some topics.
