Profile

Moritz Fleischmann is Professor and holds the Chair of Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the University of Mannheim. Since January 2023 he also serves as Vice President Sustainability and Information Provision. Prior to his appointment in Mannheim, he was an Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management at the Rotterdam School of Management in The Netherlands. He was also a visitor at McGill University, the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and at INSEAD.

Professor Fleischmann holds a Master's degree in Business Mathematics from the University of Ulm, Germany and a PhD in General Management from Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Professor Fleischmann has been teaching extensively in the fields of operations management, logistics, supply chain management, and management science in BSc, MSc, (Executive)MBA, and PhD programs. His research interests encompass various topics in the field of logistics and supply chain management. Current focal points include inventory management, last-mile distribution, demand fulfillment, and closed-loop and sustainable supply chains. In these fields, he has been working with corporations such as BASF, IBM, Heineken, and Albert Heijn. He regularly publishes  in leading international academic journals, including Operations Research, Transportation Science, Production and Operations Management, European Journal of Operational Research, and MIT Sloan Management Review.
