Short Bio

Dr. Christian W. Mayer studied economic and business education with a minor in political science at the University of Mannheim. He completed his master’s thesis in 2020, earning the Barbara Hopf Prize. Christian’s teaching focuses on innovative teaching and learning environments, including ERP systems in vocational education and VR simulations for teacher training. His research on ERP teacher training in Vocational Education and Training (VET) received the Best Paper Award at the 2022 SAP Academic Community Conference.

In 2024, Christian completed his PhD on the digitalization of economic and business education. Since October 2024, he has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Professional Teaching and Learning. His work explores how learners engage with digital environments, applies eye-tracking and investigates how ERP systems and artificial intelligence can improve education. Christian’s research interests include technology-enhanced teaching and learning, AI in education, eye-tracking, teacher competency development, and competency assessment. His work is published in national and international journals.
