Forschungstätigkeit
Die Forschungstätigkeit des Lehrstuhls für Mittelstandsforschung und Entrepreneurship ist am Institut für Mittelstandsforschung (ifm Mannheim) angesiedelt. Es ist eine zentrale Forschungseinrichtung der Universität Mannheim und führt Forschungsvorhaben zu aktuellen und strukturellen mittelstandsbezogenen Themen durch. Die Mitarbeiter am Institut arbeiten unter der Leitung von Professor Woywode in vier Forschungsbereichen. Die besondere Stärke des ifm Mannheim liegt in seiner interdisziplinären Ausrichtung und der Brückenfunktion zwischen Wissenschaft und Praxis. Die Arbeit ist sowohl national als auch international ausgerichtet. Daueraufgaben sind die Beratung politischer Gremien im In- und Ausland in mittelstandspolitischen Fragen und die Bereitstellung von statistischen Eckdaten zum Mittelstand sowie der Wissenstransfer zwischen Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft.
Das ifm Mannheim besitzt drei Arbeitsschwerpunkte: Erstens die Grundlagenforschung in den vier Forschungsgebieten. Zweitens engagiert sich ein Teil der Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter in der Lehre. Drittens bildet wissenschaftlich fundierte Politikberatung ein wichtiges Arbeitsfeld für das Institut. Bei seiner Arbeit hat sich das ifm Mannheim stehts and hohen Qualitätsstandards messen lassen und wird dies auch in der Zukunft weiter tun.
