Bachelor Thesis

Following the examination regulations for the bachelor's degree in Business Administration, each student is required to write a bachelor's thesis. Students must prove that they acquired the skills and proficiency to work independently on a problem of their field of study in a limited time period employing the scientific methods available. Students are required to work on the assigned topic on the basis of the literature available and to follow the Guidelines for Seminar Papers, Bachelor's and Master's Theses. The students work independently but are supervised by an academic staff member of the chair. Students should also consider the Manual for Scientific Writing. Students may write the theses in German or English.

The bachelor’s theses at the Chairs of Business Taxation are offered jointly by the chairs of Professor Spengel and Professor Dörrenberg. The available topics for bachelor's theses relate to the practical research focuses of the chair and the contents of the courses TAX 303 and TAX 450 (such as the principle of congruence, profit assessment, company taxation, international taxation, tax planning of multinational enterprises). Links to lists of exemplary topics can be found in the sections below.

Topics are assigned in a fair and transparent procedure. A detailed draft and the focus within the topic can be discussed individually with the responsible supervisor.

Depending on the topic and prior knowledge of the students, the bachelor’s theses can be methodologically versatile, including:

  • Literature-based qualitative theses
