My research interests lie in the performance evaluation and optimization of production and service systems. In particular, I am interested in models for capacity planning of time-dependent and stochastic operations systems.

  • Research interests

Many production and service systems can be modelled as queueing systems. The service rate is often assumed to be constant. In various situations, however, the service rate can be adjusted, what motivates taking the service rate as a decision variable. When there is a high traffic of arriving costumers, a fast service rate that processes the costumers quickly can be chosen to avoid the system to become congested. In case of low traffic, a slower service rate with less service dependent costs can be applied. Various decision models that optimize the service rates in a static and time-dependent environment are analyzed.
