Ruth Schültken is a research assistant at the Endowed Chair of Procurement since November 2020, first as a PhD student and since October 2024 as a postdoc. Her cumulative dissertation “Intra- and Inter-Organizational Misalignment Problems in Supply Management” comprises three essays on the topics of sustainability and agility in procurement.
Prior to her doctorate, she completed her Master's degree in Business Administration with a focus on Supply Chain Management (M.Sc.) at the University of Cologne. Her studies focused on operations management and production management. She was awarded the Dean's Award for her outstanding academic achievements. She spent a semester in Tallinn at the Estonian Business School (EBS), where she gained intercultural experience as well as in-depth knowledge of strategic management. She wrote her Master's thesis at the Chair of Supply Chain Management and Management Science as part of a project with a partner from the chemical industry. She compared various approaches to evaluating supplier reliability from the literature with an approach she developed herself, which takes the pain points of the supply chain into account in the best possible way.
She also completed her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (B.Sc.) at the University of Cologne. Her studies already focused on supply chain management. She also received the Dean's Award for outstanding academic achievements during her Bachelor's degree. She spent a semester in Dublin at Dublin City University (DCU), where she was able to deepen her knowledge of project management.
Alongside her studies, she gained practical experience in various positions in the chemical industry, the service sector, and retail, including in strategic purchasing, project management, and database management.
