Best Senior Researcher Award 2021 for Professor Dr. Armin Heinzl

Professor Dr. Armin Heinzl has been presented with the “Best Senior Researcher Award 2021” during the Faculty Meeting at the University of Mannheim, Business School, on November 23rd, 2022. The prize emphasizes the importance of conducting and publishing cutting-edge research, obtaining research funding, promoting young and diverse talent, and engaging in the research community. The laudation was given by Prof. Dr. Hartmut Hoehle. The prize is endowed with a funding budget of €10,000 for research-related purposes, donated by Mannheim Business School gGmbH. 

Professor Dr. Armin Heinzl was commended for his advanced high-quality research and publications in top Information Systems Journals over the last 20 years on IT Outsourcing, Software Development and Management, Digital Platforms and Platform Governance, Mobile Healthcare, and Artificial Intelligence in Decision Making. He was also acknowledged for his successful mentoring of young research talents, who have earned professor’s positions at universities throughout Europe (Professor Dr. Franz Rothlauf, Professor Dr. Jens Dibbern, Professor Dr. Thomas Kude, Professor Dr. Jens Förderer, and Professor Dr. Kai Spohrer), his obtainment of research funding (e.g., DFG, BMBF, BMDV, MWK and MWAT Baden Wuerttemberg, SAP, E-Plus, BASF, Roche, Phoenix, and others), and his engagement for the internationalization of the national Information Systems Community (e.g.., WKWI Young Talent Chairman, WKWI Spokesman, editorial roles at the WIRTSCHAFTSINFORMATIK as well as the Business and Information Systems Engineering Journal, and co-organizing ICIS 2015, the flagship conference of the IS Community). Professor Dr. Armin Heinzl is very honored to receive the award and is grateful to companions who have motivated and sustained him on his academic journey.
