Your path to a doctoral degree

We offer two paths to earn a doctoral degree at our chair :

1. PhD program at the Center for Doctoral Studies in Business (GESS-CDSB)

2. Doctorate at our chair as a research associate

What are the main differences between the two paths?

Application	Early applications: 15 January / Final application deadline: 15 March	No deadline: Applications at our chair are possible throughout the year.
Entry	With your cohort in September.	Flexible starting date.
Advantage	Profound education for scientific working before becoming a full-time research associate.	Direct entry as a research associate.

PhD program at the Center for Doctoral Studies in Business (GESS-CDSB)

You will start your academic career with a challenging training in empirical and quantiative methods and their application in economics, social sciences, and humanities at the Center for Doctoral Studies in Business (CDSB) of the Graduate School for Economics and Social Sciences (GESS).

After one year of study, you will be employed as a research associate at the chair (similar to a traditional German doctorate). Part-time employment during the GESS-CDSB year can also be negotiated.

Doctorate at our chair as a research associate

In addition to providing support in teaching and chair administration, you will work in close collaboration with Professor Dr. Sabine Kuester on your own dissertation.
