Your path to a doctoral degree

At our chair there are two paths to earn a doctoral degree:

1. PhD-program at the Center for Doctoral Studies in Business (GESS-CDSB)

2. Doctorate at our chair as a research associate

This page provides information on both paths as well on their main differences.

You will start your academic career with demanding training in empirical and quantiative methods as well as their application in business, economics and social sciences at the Center for Doctoral Studies in Business (CDSB) of the Graduate School for Economics and Social Sciences (GESS).

After one year of courses you will be employed as a research associate at the chair (analogue to traditional german doctorate). Moreover, partial employment during the GESS-CDSB year can be negotiated.

Doctorate at our chair as a research associate

Besides assisting in teaching and chair administration, you will work on your own dissertation in close collaboration with Professor Sabine Kuester.
