Ziel unserer Forschung ist es, Theorien und Methoden für das Design von Informationssystemen und IT-Infrastrukturen zu entwickeln. Neuste Erkenntnisse werden aus empirischen Studien gewonnen und in softwaregestützten Methoden und Werkzeugen inkorporiert, stets in Dialog zwischen Forschung und Praxis.
Methodik
Empirische, epistemologische Forschung (Verhaltensparadigma): Mit einem empirischen Ansatz werden Forschungsprobleme in den oben genannten Bereichen sowohl explorativ als auch konfirmatorisch untersucht. Ziel dieses Ansatzes ist es, die zugrundeliegenden Zusammenhänge realer Phänomene zu identifizieren und zu beschreiben. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf dem Vergleich und der Reflexion von theoretischen Aussagen mit in der Praxis beobachteten Verhaltensmustern. Als Methoden der Datenerhebung verwendet der Lehrstuhl hauptsächlich schriftliche Erhebungen und (multiple) Fallstudien. Für die Datenanalyse werden interpretative Methoden und Techniken der Strukturgleichungsmodellierung eingesetzt.
Konstruktive, experimentelle Forschung (Designwissenschaft): Ergänzend zur verhaltenswissenschaftlich-empirischen Forschung entwickelt der Lehrstuhl Lösungen auf der Basis von Literaturanalysen und Fallstudien sowie in Form von konzeptionellen, methodischen und toolbasierten Artefakten.
