Guest Lecture: Mechanism Design in Practice with Daniel Sadrinna and Jan Budd (Argon & Co)

On 13 May 2026, two consultants from the global management consultancy Argon & Co joined our master-level course OPM 692 Strategic Sourcing for a guest lecture on competitive market negotiations and mechanism design. Daniel Sadrinna and Jan Budd – both University of Mannheim alumni and members of Argon & Co's Negotiation Excellence Team – gave our students a hands-on perspective on how competitive sourcing projects are set up in industry.

Their session contrasted negotiations and auctions, applied game-theoretic thinking, walked through the main auction formats, and discussed typical challenges and risks, illustrated with examples from their consulting projects.
