We are delighted to announce that on Friday, September 6, Ruth Schültken successfully defended her dissertation, titled “Intra- and Inter-Organizational Misalignment Problems in Supply Management.”
Ruth's doctoral research makes significant contributions to the field of supply management by addressing critical misalignment challenges within and between organizations. Her work provides both theoretical insights and practical recommendations for enhancing alignment in supply chains. A central focus of her dissertation is the “intention-behavior gap” in corporate sustainability—one of the most pressing issues in the „honest“ implementation of sustainable practices. Her research also highlights the distinct ways in which procurement managers approach environmental and social dimensions of sustainability, offering new perspectives on the complexities of integrating these aspects into supply chain management. The related papers are currently under review in leading academic journals. A big „thank you“ goes to Moritz Fleischmann and John R. Macdonald for serving on the dissertation committee.
This successful defense also marks an significant milestone for the Endowed Chair of Procurement, as it represents the 10th PhD project successfully completed within our group. We are grateful to the sponsors of the Endowed Chair of Procurement, whose unwavering support has been instrumental in fostering this research excellence and nurturing exceptional talents like Ruth.
Congratulations, Dr. Schültken!
