Campus

Discover what studying at Germany's leading business school is all about. The Business School of the University of Mannheim is one of the most renowned business schools in Europe. Companies

Meet business experts and learn what it really means when academia meets practice during company visits and expert discussions. The Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region is one of the most important economic centers of the European market. 50% of Germany's top 500 companies, such as BASF, SAP, Lufthansa and Daimler, are based within a 150 km radius of Mannheim.

Culture

During our cultural activities, you will get the chance to try the local specialties of the Palatinate vineyards or explore Heidelberg with its impressive castle and its unique historic center. Visit Hambach Castle, the cradle of German democracy, Speyer with its UNESCO World Heritage cathedral or the medieval villages along the German wine road.

The MBS Summer School at a glance

Entrepreneurship and Innovation – Enhancing Access to Capital via Crowdfunding

Module 1

24 June – 28 June 2024

Today’s economic landscape is strongly influenced by highly innovative ventures. This development is driven by rapid technological change and digitization. the focus of this course is to supply students with a deep understanding of the theoretical foundations of entrepreneurship and practical tools to create ideas and start their own business in the digital age. Light is also shed on digital forms of entrepreneurship, especially crowdfunding and crowd interaction, competitive positioning and advantage in entrepreneurial firms, and strategic dimensions of recent developments in the market such as digitalization and their implications for new ventures, family firms, and business models.

Artificial Intelligence in Business

Module 2

1 July – 5 July 2024

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly emerging as the most important and transformative digital technology of our time. Recent advances have led to a rapid proliferation of new approaches that are changing the competitive landscape for companies in almost all industries. Hence, it is important for future managers to understand this technology. They understand the different types of machine learning as fundamental concepts of AI (e.g., deep learning, neural networks). They are able to develop strategies to leverage AI for value creation in business settings and apply related tools and techniques. Students are aware of the limitations, pitfalls and potential countermeasures when using AI.

Designing Data-Driven Business Models

Module 3

8 July – 12 July 2024

Despite an enormous amount of business-relevant data generated every day, many managers and top executives still rely on conventional wisdom or intuition to guide their decisions. In this course, participants will learn key principles of business analytics and recent technological developments that allows them to understand how to turn data into insights, better decisions, and enhanced corporate value. Participants will learn techniques they need to transform an organization into a data-driven organization and apply their knowledge in a reallife case with a partnering company.

Are you interested in a customized short program?

The MBS offers short-term group programs specifically customized to the participants’ needs and preferences. Your participants will gain new insights and perspectives through the exchange with corporate experts sharing their firsthand knowledge. On average, study trips last five to seven days. The MBS offers digital and on campus formats.
