Computational Social Science: Advances, Challenges and Opportunities

We (Abi, Jens, and Jana) headed to Como, Italy for a summer school on Computational Social Science: Advances, Challenges and Opportunities (June 22–26, 2026). Set in a villa on the lake, the week brought together researchers from around the world to dig into how computational tools — from network analysis to LLM simulations — can help us understand social (online) behaviour, trust in technology, risks posed by LLMs, how feedback loops influence online communities, and more. 

We also got the opportunity to present our own work and connect with our amazing co-attendees. We want to thank all lecturers and organizers for making this summer school possible. And a special shout-out to our colleague Marlene, who was a surprise addition to the team of lecturers, as she conducted a research stay in the lab of Debora Nozza at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy.
