Dr. Deborah Mateja Receives the Dissertation Award of the Stiftung für Kommunikations- und Medienwissenschaften

The Stiftung für Kommunikations- und Medienwissenschaften has honored Dr. Deborah Mateja for her dissertation “Creativity and Artificial Intelligence: Conceptual Foundations, Design, and Use.” The foundation recognizes outstanding theses and dissertations in communication and media research – explicitly including work from business administration and computer science that takes a clear media- and communication-related approach.
The cumulative dissertation consists of three papers and contributes to describing, explaining, and designing creative tasks in the age of artificial intelligence (AI). It examines how machine learning systems enable computational creativity and how generative AI systems can be designed to foster human creativity. It further analyzes how people use such systems when carrying out creative tasks and how these usage patterns affect the creativity of the results.
We warmly congratulate Dr. Deborah Mateja on this award!
