Introduction of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Microsoft 365 at the University of Mannheim

The University is introducing multi-factor authentication to enhance account security for Microsoft 365. With multi-factor authentication, access to your account is verified using at least two independent factors. In this two-step verification process, when you log in with your password, you are also asked to provide an additional factor, such as entering a one-time code.
This second factor significantly better protects your Microsoft 365 account and the files stored there from unauthorized access, since, for example, having your password stolen in a phishing attack is no longer sufficient to gain access to your account.
You can find information on setting up MFA on our instructions page.
