New AI strategy paper from the central institutions
The aim is to harness the potential of AI applications to promote excellence in research and teaching and to create outstanding study and working conditions at the University of Mannheim, while taking into account the rapid technological developments as well as the risks involved.
In particular, different requirements in research, teaching, and administration must be taken into account in order to enable the respective groups to use AI services in a needs-based and secure manner. To this end, UNIT will provide access to various local and (external) cloud-based AI models:
- Local AI services: for applications with increased security requirements
- External AI services: AI models with programming interface (API) and commercial AI models
- Experimental AI playground: open, cloud-based opportunity for researchers and students
Outside the university, inter-university alliances are being sought. The university continuously reviews its models and offers advice and training on AI tools. This is intended to promote the exchange on the topic of AI at the University of Mannheim.
