Welcome to our new GESS student

We are thrilled to welcome Nicola Schmitt, who has just started her Ph.D. in Management at the Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences (GESS) of the University of Mannheim.

In her doctoral studies, Nicola is eager to delve into research on Digital Transformation and Innovation, with a special focus on Generative Artificial Intelligence applications in organizations.

Nicola was born in Rheinfelden-Baden, Germany, a town near the Swiss border and close to the city of Zurich. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Cologne, followed by a Master's in Business Administration with a specialization in Corporate Development. During her studies, Nicola spent a semester abroad at ALBA Graduate Business School in Athens, Greece, where she participated in one of the world's top Shipping Management programs, focusing on Strategic Management for Shipping Services. She has gained valuable research experience as a research assistant at the Chair of Organizational Behavior and practical experience through internships in the consulting industry, including at EY Switzerland.
