Dean Joachim Lutz is a new member of the Supervisory Board of the University Medical Center Freiburg

Appointment made by Minister for Science and Art of Baden-Württemberg

Joachim Lutz (65), Dean of the Business School of the University of Mannheim and former Spokesman of the Board of CropEnergies AG, has been appointed by the Minister for Science and Art of Baden-Württemberg Theresia Bauer as a member of the Supervisory Board of the University Medical Center Freiburg.

“With Joachim Lutz, we have gained a diversely experienced economic and financial expert for the Supervisory Board of the University Medical Center Freiburg. With his wide-ranging expertise, he will profitably support the joint work of the hospital's Executive Board and Supervisory Board,” says Supervisory Board Chairman Dr. Carsten Dose about the arrival of the new member. Lutz is also looking forward to his new tasks: “I am very much looking forward to an exciting, intensive collaboration in the field of life sciences, which is so important for the society.”

Lutz studied business administration at the University of Mannheim, majoring in finance, banking and auditing. Since graduating with a degree in business administration, he has gained experience in responsible positions in various industries, initially as an authorized signatory at Deutsche Bank. In 1991, he took over the position of Finance Director at Südzucker AG. As chief financial officer, he took the newly founded subsidiary CropEnergies AG, which operates in the renewable energies sector, public in 2006, and was appointed speaker of the executive board in 2015. After his retirement in 2020, Lutz moved back to his alma mater, the University of Mannheim, as full-time dean of the Business School.
