For the ELCH (Electrified Coach) project, Daimler Buses has joined forces with renowned research institutes and industry practitioners to accelerate development of fully electric coaches. Researchers at the University of Mannheim are to find out how electric coaches could be used economically as part of the project. In an interview, Prof. Dr. Gunther Glenk, junior professor at the Mannheim Institute for Sustainable Energy Studies, talks about the goals of the study and why the economic viability compared to conventional coaches needs to be analyzed in detail in the context of different application models.
