Bridging Studies and Careers: The Gap Year Featured on AACSB Insights

The Gap Year, launched in 2019, serves as a structured bridge between bachelor’s and master’s studies. The program enables students to complete three consecutive four-month internships across several fields, including accounting, finance, marketing, operations management, and information systems. This format allows participants to either specialize in a specific field or to explore different industries and functional areas.
From theory to practice
The initiative was developed in response to a growing number of students seeking practical experience after their bachelor’s degree. While many already possess strong analytical and theoretical foundations, they often look for opportunities to apply their knowledge in practice and gain a clearer understanding of their strengths and career interests.
By combining internships with academic elements such as workshops, lectures, and training sessions, the Gap Year ensures that students not only gain hands-on experience but also reflect on their learning and further develop their professional skill sets.
A growing network and support by MBS
Since its launch, the Gap Year has steadily expanded and now collaborates with around 40 companies, including major international firms. In addition to benefiting from a wide range of internship opportunities, participants receive ongoing support from the program team throughout the year – for example, with organizational matters such as internship contracts and insurance questions.
Together, these elements shape a comprehensive learning experience that equips students with stronger professional skills, a clearer sense of career direction, and the confidence to take their next step.
