Forum Procurement: Risk and Digital Transformation

Hosted by Mannheim Business School, the program addressed supply chain risk and digital transformation. Together with Prof. Dr. Christoph Bode, participants explored current levels of supply chain disruption risk, sustainability pressures, and the transformative potential of AI in procurement. Prof. Dr. Markus Gerschberger demonstrated how large-scale data sources can be leveraged for advanced supply chain mapping, systemic risk propagation analysis, and ensuring compliance with sustainability regulations. His applications to battery and semiconductor supply chains clearly illustrated the strategic value of supply chain intelligence. Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Grüner examined geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainties and their implications for European supply chains, building a rigorous case for proactive resilience investments.
The dialogue among experienced procurement managers underscored the value of connecting academic research with practical challenges. Together with our “Advanced Procurement Certificate” the new format will serve as a platform for continued high-level exchange and joint discussion of emerging procurement best practices. Many thanks to all participants for their engagement and to our partners for their continued trust.
