The semester abroad at a glance

Partner universities

Internationality is one of our great passions in Mannheim. Have a look at the Business School's renowned partner universities and get ready for your own international experience as an exchange student.

Support

The departmental exchange coordinator from the International Affairs Team of the Business School as well as the Central International Office are happy to provide assistance before, during and after your stay abroad. Please find all necessary information on our e-learning platform ILIAS in the folder “Auslandssemester”.

Application

Apply during your third semester for a placement at one of our partner universities and study abroad in your fifth semester. Experience reports help you to learn more about the host universities. Alternatively, an application as freemover at a foreign university is also possible.

Recognition

Courses taken abroad can be easily transferred into the International Studies Module of your bachelor's program after prior consultation with your academic advisor. Please read the information provided on ILIAS and contact the departmental exchange coordinators of the Business School or the examination committee in case you have further questions.

During my semester abroad, I had the opportunity to pursue my studies and experience a whole new country at the same time. This helped me to gain numerous new impressions, experiences and friendships. Therefore, I highly recommend studying abroad not only from a professional but also from a personal point of view. Due to the integrated semester abroad and the large number of partner universities of the Business School, it's rather easy to spend a semester at a foreign university during your bachelor studies.

The mandatory semester abroad in my bachelor studies at the University of Mannheim offers the great opportunity to develop personally as well as academically and to get to know new teaching methods. The enriching cultural exchange with local students provides new perspectives and broadens your horizon. The huge amount of partner universities leaves no wish unfulfilled and respects our individual interests. The University of Mannheim looks after its students very well and provides a lot of information which helped me to enjoy my semester abroad in Lisbon withouth any worries.
