PhD Student (m/f/d) in the area of Learning Analytics
The position is part of a cooperation between the chair of Artificial Intelligence (Prof. Stuckenschmidt), the Chair for Organization and Innovation (Prof. Hoisl) and the Chair for Economic and Business Education – Learning, Design & Technology (Prof. Ifenthaler) as part of the European University ENGAGE.EU. The goal is to develop, implement and evaluate methods for analyzing and predicting study success across different European Universities.
To be considered, an educational background in computer science, information systems, business administration, business education or a related field and an interest in teaching and learning is necessary. The candidate should have an excellent command of theoretical and methodological foundations of data analysis at the Master level and be fluent, both in written and spoken English and German. Knowledge of machine learning and data mining as well as the programming languages R or Python would be an advantage. At the very least, the position requires the willingness to familiarize oneself with these methods and programming languages and pleasure in working with large data sets. Most importantly, the candidate should share our enthusiasm for high quality scientific research with academic and societal impact and excellent teaching.
Generally, PhD students are paid according to a 100% position under the German TVL-E 13 payment scheme. The earliest possible starting date is January 1, 2021. PhD students are able to participate in doctoral courses at the Mannheim Graduate School of Economics and Social Sciences. The candidate can choose between a PhD Computer Science or Management Science depending on qualification.
