A confident tone for higher chances of success

Professor Dr. Matthias Brauer, Chair for Strategic and International Management at University of Mannheim Business School, together with former Research Associate Dr. Philipp Binder and Prof. Margarethe Wiersema from the University of California Irvine, conducted research on higher chances of success in activist hedge fund campaigns.

Using data from the Thomson Reuters ASSET4 ESG, they examined 1,683 hedge fund campaigns targeting US companies. They found that investors take a more confident tone of voice as an indication of the activists' competence.
