Am Mittwoch, den 06.12. hat Herr Prof. Dr. Raik Stolletz sie eingeladen von 12:30 bis 13:30 Uhr einen Vortrag zum Thema „Effectiveness of supply-side financial incentives in ride-hailing networks with spatial demand imbalance and strategic drivers” zu halten.
Abstract
When matching riders with self-interested drivers in a spatial network, ride-hailing platforms face two challenges: (i) there are spatial demand imbalances that require some repositioning of drivers to serve the total rider demand, and (ii) the self-interested drivers strategically decide whether to join the network, and if so, whether to wait for the next rider or reposition when not serving riders. We study the effects of supply-side financial incentives on drivers’ decentralized repositioning decisions and the resulting repositioning equilibrium and evaluate their effectiveness in achieving the equilibrium under centralized repositioning. This is a joint work with Philipp Afèche and Andre Cire.
Speaker Bio
Dr. Uta Mohring is a postdoctoral researcher at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, Canada. Her research applies techniques such as stochastic modeling, queueing theory, game theory, pricing and revenue management to solve operations problems in logistics and transportation, e.g. on-demand transportation, shared mobility, online retail, and warehouse logistics. She received her doctoral degree from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), where she also earned her bachelor's and master’s degrees in Industrial Engineering and Management.
