Business School Welcomes Assistant Professor

Gunther Glenk new Assistant Professor of Accounting at Mannheim Institute for Sustainable Energy Studies

The Business School is pleased to welcome a new member: on 1 November, Gunther Glenk took up his position as Assistant Professor of Accounting at the Mannheim Institute for Sustainable Energy Studies (MISES) to conduct research and provide support in teaching.

Prof. Glenk completed his bachelor's, master's and doctoral studies at the Technical University of Munich. These included stints abroad at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Since 2019 he has been working as a research assistant at the Mannheim Institute for Sustainable Energy Studies, under the direction of Professor Stefan Reichelstein, Ph.D. He is now very pleased about the appointment as assistant professor: “The Business School of the University of Mannheim stands for top performance in research and teaching. It is a great honor for me to work here with the staff and for the students,” says Glenk.

In his research he deals with cost and profitability analyzes, the economics of decarbonization and sustainability management. In October he was honored with the Junior Researcher Prize of the Business School for his research achievements over the past five years. The research award praised, among other things, his publication on the topic of “green” hydrogen, which was published in the journal Nature-Energy and is one of the first works on this topic.
