The campus map will help you to find your way around the campus and the university.

Courses and Degree Planning

  • Module Catalog

The module catalog gives you an overview of the course offer and its content and lets you choose which courses you would like to attend.

Please also pay attention to the study plan (can be found e.g. in the module catalog and the examination regulations)! Modules cannot be brought forward.

  • Course Registration

The majority of courses in the Bachelor of Business Administration have no capacity restrictions. Exceptions apply to the electives A & B, language courses and some exercises & tutorials. Nevertheless, you should take every course formally so that you have access to all materials.

To enroll in courses, go to the “Study planner” in Portal 2 under “My studies” and select the corresponding course you would like to enroll in. You have to book each course individually, i.e. lecture, tutorial and tutorial. In this view you can already click on the button “Belegen”.

Alternatively, you can now click on the respective course under “Parallel groups/ Dates” to view all details, such as dates and rooms. Here, too, “Belegen” appears again.

For some events, especially tutorials, you must then specify the parallel groups according to your priority. It is important that you give all parallel groups a priority and that you give each priority only once. Please also note that you will not necessarily receive your first priority, as some time slots are more popular than others.

    Special Features of Elective A:

Elective A has both courses with and without limited enrollment. There is no first-come-first-served procedure for courses with a limited number of participants, whose places are allocated via Portal 2. There, the decision is made by lot at the end of the registration period. Places are allocated exclusively by drawing lots!

Please register for all courses directly at the event. To do this, first log on to Portal². Then navigate to the study planner and search for the course you would like to take. Register for the course by clicking the “Register” button. You will then be shown the status “registered”. After the deadline, the status will change to “admitted” if you have been given a place and “rejected” if you have not been given a place. Places are allocated exclusively by lottery.

If you are admitted and do not want to accept the place, please use the button “unsubscribe” to give others the chance to move up. If you are rejected, please check the portal regularly, because you will be moved up. If you move up, you will be shown “admitted”. If you do not want the place anymore, please use the button “Unsubscribe”!

Attention: Please be fair and make use of the possibility to deregister if you know that you do not want to take the course after all. If coveted seats remain empty in the end, no one benefits!

Some courses have to be registered additionally with the chair via their website or by e-mail. You can find detailed information on this in the module catalog and on the websites of the chairs.

  • Electives A

The Electives A gives you the opportunity to further deepen an area of business administration as well as to shape your studies at the University of Mannheim according to your interests.  You can find all elective courses and the corresponding events in the module catalog. You can register for most of the courses via Portal 2. For detailed information, please refer to the module catalog.

The Electives A is regularly completed in the 4th semester of your studies and contains 3 ECTS points (exception: Macroeconomics with 8 ECTS).
