Business School Welcomes new Professor

Arnd Vomberg takes over newly created Professorship for digital marketing and marketing transformation

The Business School is pleased to welcome a new member: on 1 September, 2021, Dr. Arnd Vomberg took up his professorship. Before that he was Associate Professor at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. Now he is returning to his alma mater: Dr. Vomberg completed his diploma studies as well as his doctorate at the University of Mannheim and subsequently served as an assistant professor. He also spent some time as a visiting scholar at Columbia Business School in New York, USA.

At the start of his new job he says: “I am looking forward to the diverse interactions with the ambitious and motivated students of the University of Mannheim. The university's partner networks provide me with impulses for important research questions and can promote the diffusion of my findings into corporate practice. The excellent research conditions on site as well as the international networking of the university support my research in the field of digital marketing and marketing transformation. "

Professor Vomberg's research focuses on digital marketing and marketing transformation. He examines omnichannel strategies, online pricing, marketing automation, agile transformation, marketing technology and the influence of marketing on employees. For this he has received several awards and his research results have been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and International Journal of Research in Marketing.

In the current fall semester, he is offering the course “CC 503 Empirical Methods: Business Analytics I”, in which students of the Mannheim Master in Management, the Master in Economic and Business Education and the Master Culture and Economy can take part.
