21st Sustainable Business Summit: Digital Changemaker Summit

On October 12^th, 2018, from 9:30 am to 7:00 pm, the Chair of Corporate Social Responsibility organizes the 21^st Sustainable Business Summit, this semester titled „Digital Changemakers Summit“. The event is sponsored and co-organized by KPMG Sustainability Services and will be held at the Wizemann.space in Stuttgart. A shuttle bus will be available for transportation to the event location and back.

During the one day event, 40 Mannheim students will work together in groups mentored by practitioners from organizations including WWF, BASF, SAP, and Henkel to develop concepts for digital solutions to social and/or environmental problems. Software engineers will be present to advise students during the development process (no prior technical or programming skills are required). The goal of the interactive workshop is to develop a mock-up of a digital solution (e.g., a website or an app) and a social business model canvas for its application. More broadly, the workshop aims to raise awareness of the positive potential of digitalization to remedy social and environmental challenges.

The workshop will start with some breakfast snacks and a video address of Simon Müller, Mannheim and Harvard alumni and founder of the Think Tank “The Future Society”. The workshops (including design thinking techniques) will be co-organized by SocEntBW and the team of the Wizemann.space Stuttgart. At the end of the day, the student teams will present their concepts to the group and a jury of experienced practitioners. The best idea will receive an award.
